By booking the Vesuvius tour with our NCC service, we will accompany you in the discovery of one of the world’s most dangerous volcanoes. Countless images and photos immortalize and consecrate Vesuvius as the symbol of Naples. Indeed, Vesuvius dominates the entire Gulf of Naples. All that remains is to confirm your reservation, and our driver will pick you up at the location you specify. From there, you will depart for the summit of the Neapolitan volcano. On the road to the cone, you can admire a breathtaking panorama of the Bay of Naples. Ascending the road that surrounds the “mountain,” you will marvel at rich Mediterranean vegetation covering the entire area. Pay attention also to the color and shape of the stones along the road. These rocks come from solidified lava over time and ancient eruptions. Once you reach the entrance, your walking excursion will begin. Our driver will wait for you until the end of the tour to take you back to your destination.

Travel notes about Mount Vesuvius

Mount Vesuvio stands at almost 1280 meters and is the only active volcano in Europe. It is one of the most dangerous, given the densely populated area at its base. During the eruption of 79 A.D., entire cities, including Pompeii, Herculaneum, and Stabiae, were destroyed. The last eruption occurred in 1944, during World War II. After this eruption, Vesuvius entered a phase of tranquility, with the eruptive vent blocked by the lava from the last eruption. This phase, currently ongoing, is characterized by low seismic activity. Currently, the alert level for Vesuvius is green, as determined by the Department of Civil Protection, based on daily monitoring results. Therefore, no anomalous phenomena are reported compared to the volcano’s ordinary activity. The lands around the volcano have always been very fertile. In fact, many farms and vineyards located around Vesuvius produce excellent products by exploiting the richness and fertility of the soil.

The walk around the circumference of the cone is not very challenging but is not suitable for children under 5 years old. It is also recommended to wear comfortable shoes. The best time to visit Vesuvius is from April to October. Official guides will be available on-site to assist you.

STEP 1

Meet the driver

A day trip to the top of an active volcano with our private car service. You will meet the driver at the place you requested. In case you arrive at the airport, at the train station or at Port, you will find our driver waiting for you. It will be easy to see him, as the chauffeur will keep a sign with your name. In case the pickup location is a hotel, a private residence or a B&B, your driver will be waiting for you near the Lobby or the nearest place. In any case, the driver will contact you 10 minutes before the pickup time via whatsapp or telephone call.

STEP 2

Transfer to the top of Vesuvius by car

Our experienced driver will lead you to the peak of Vesuvius. Rising up to the top, you can enjoy marvel at the breathtaking views of the bay of Naples and the lush Mediterranean vegetation cloaking the volcano’s slopes. The driver will accompany you at the entrance gate of Volcano. Our chauffeur will wait you there while the walking tour is complete.

STEP 3

Walking tour around the crater

Once the driver has left you at the entrance of the park, you can continue on foot, enjoying this walk around the diameter of the crater (about 600 meters in extension). Continuing along the path you can admire the view of the southern coast of the Gulf of Naples, up to Sorrento and the island of Capri. In some places, the path becomes slightly bumpier, but with the comfortable shoes, you can safely continue the walk. You can see clearly, the Monte Somma and the Valley of the Giant that divides the 2 cones. Thanks to this excursion, you will admire different species of birds that live in this area, a lush vegetation with many brooms (a typical flower of this place) and different color of lava that means different period of the eruptions.

STEP 4

End of tour and return transfer

At the end of walking tour of the crater, you will find our driver waiting for you at the arranged place/time. From there you will leave by our vehicle, to the same place where the driver picked you up or to a different place as you can request. You can pay the balance directly to the driver, by cash or credit card.
