Historical notes
A few kilometers from the Royal Palace of Caserta, the area between Capua and Sessa Aurunca offers some interesting cultural points of interest. In fact, in Capua, in Hadrian’s Square, stands the imposing Capua amphitheater. It is one of the largest buildings of its kind, rivaling in size, in the past, the Colosseum in Rome. It possibly arose in the third century BC. During time it suffered various devastations. It was Emperor Hadrian who had it rebuilt. Its columns and stones, contributed to the construction of many buildings in the present city. We remind you that, this amphitheater witnessed the heroic deeds of Spartacus, a famous and brave gladiator, who also fought against ferocious beasts. Next to the amphitheater is the beautiful Gladiator Museum. We believe it is worth visiting the Amphitheater and the Museum. The total ticket price is 2.50 euros per person.
